How to blog

I’m often of two minds on how to go about this blog, and I want your opinion on it.

Option 1: Focus on in-depth articles that really probe and examine the history and lore of Mega Man, with full translations and references and large interspersed images.
+ Better overall quality of information and presentation!
Takes more time and effort, meaning updates are irregular and sporadic.
I will usually run out of steam long before I actually finish the things I start, resulting in posting half-finished articles and in dropping some topics entirely.

Option 2: Post up more little things, such as fun images or trivial observations. Break translations down into small sections at a time instead of whole pages all at once.
+ Potential for regular actual updates!
Makes me less likely to commit to completing the larger, fuller article styles mentioned above.
Skews towards shitposting.

At various times in the past I’ve tried combining bits of both, but I sometimes think it would be better to try and commit to one method or another, particularly in trying to get a working routine down. If you feel like throwing your 2 cents in, I invite you to share your opinion on this poll which will be up for about 2 weeks. You can vote for up to 2 answers if you feel like being sassy.

Thanks!

Finding a correct balance between long and short posts can be tricky. On one hand, longer, well-researched posts are definitely interesting and unique compared to what can usually be found around. On the other hand, having smaller updates more often means that people are more likely to keep an eye on the blog on a regular basis, possibly bringing in more readers.

There’s no perfect answer to this one!

I think quality updates are better, even if they’re irregular. You have to remember that no matter what approach you decide on, there’ll always be those who disagree. Running a poll is good for reference only. Go with what you feel is best. It’ll be more fun for you.

I simply like this place and will continue coming back to read whenever and whatever you post here. There’re still a lot of articles I haven’t read yet, so in my case there won’t be a problem with rare updates. Should you choose to post little things instead, I’m still fine with that.

I love the little stuff, especially fun pictures! The in-depth stuff is amazing and has always been a huge help when it comes to needing reference material (thank youuuu). I dunno what I’m trying to say except that everything you post has always been interesting… Slow or fast, sporadic or scheduled, I just really, really hope you keep updating!

P.S. I also like when you post opinions/insights/reactions to Mega Man news! I loved reading everything you noticed about the Legacy Collection. Anytime something new is announced or released, I check here for new posts!

I voted quality over quantity, but that was kind of knee-jerk. It’s all good, really, as long as you do your best. =)

I also voted quality. It always beats out quantity. I really appreciate your work, so keep it up!

A side question, and I apologize because I couldn’t find any other way to post such a question, but I have been pondering Mega Man’s deadly foe for sometime. No, not Dr. Wily. Those instant kill spike hazards! In your vast collection of Rockman lore, has there been any mention of why those deadly variety have such a violent effect on Rock? Why do some spikes kill instantly while others only damage him? Is it purely game mechanics or has some other reason ever been stated.

If you ever uncover an answer to these questions, I’d love to read about it on a future blog. Thanks for all of your work!
