R20+5 contains page after page of interviews with Rockman series artists, past, present, and up and coming. It culminates in a section called “The Answer” where more than 10 representatives of Capcom and Inti Creates take turns answering over 50 of the fans’ Rockman-related questions gathered from Rockman Unity. I thought it would be fun (well, easier for me) to translate a few of the questions and answers every so often.
This first group I like to call “Capcom can’t help ya.” These questions share a common theme: their answers are bound to disappoint. But I suppose we can’t expect Capcom to have an answer for everything, now can we? Some of our burning questions just don’t have gratifying solutions.
Today we’ll take a look at one question from the classic Rockman section, two from the Rockman X section, and one from the Rockman EXE section.
Q02: Is there any original artwork for the boss characters from the Wonderswan version of Rockman & Forte?
CAPCOM: Because that game is a product of a separate company, no artwork was done for that inside Capcom. Therefore, unfortunately, we don’t have any illustratons, drafts, or concept artwork for that game.
Q04: Is there any background information on the creator of Dynamo?
CAPCOM: Sorry, that’s currently unknown.
Q05: Who the heck built VAVA?
CAPCOM: Just like with Dynamo, that’s currently unknown.
Q11: There’s art for anime characters like Hikawa Tohru and C. F. Rockman, so were there ever plans for them to appear in any of the games?
CAPCOM: Nope. Hikawa-kun’s artwork was drawn for just for hobby use, and the Cross Fusion Rockman art was made especially for the movie.
That’s all for today. Don’t worry, this Q&A stuff will get much juicier later on.
Thanks, can wait for more Q&A. Funny they don’t know who created Vile, one has to assume that they thought about it working in IHX.
Please don’t tell me that most of the answers boil down to “we don’t have that” or “we don’t know”…
Yeah, this looks kind of ominous.
Come on you guys, I just said not to worry! …Although… Capcom’s always declined answering our most nagging questions, on occasions that the question has no answer IS the official answer. I wouldn’t expect that to change any time soon. And I think we all recognize that fans sometimes give more thought to certain aspects than the developers, so not every question can even have an answer… Actually, the questions I’m putting up next aren’t much different, but… okay, fine. I give. But sometimes even dodged questions yield interesting tidbits anyway, right?
The proof is in the pudding, my dear 20. 😉
But yeah, tidbits are great… if they give us that much. Of course, you would know whether they have or not. ;P
What’s interesting to me might not be to the next guy, I suppose… I think even an answer that says “Gosh, we developers didn’t really think about that before” at least tells us fans something. And maybe then they’ll think about it now that they know people want to know more… about whatever this hypothetical thing is. Wait, I’m confused…
Curious. So the RFWS artwork published in that one Japanese magazine isn’t official?

As always, your initiative is much appreciated, #20. I look forward to the juicy bits you mentioned.
Sounds like it may be official, but not by Capcom.
Bandai developed the game, and those art pieces are either from their Wonderswan development group or made by the magazine’s promotional artists. I know not which.
Capcom is not above taking images off the internet to use in their products, but I guess these images either went under their radar or they chose not to use them in the book for reasons all their own.
